Today, when I tried to do a

view plain print about

1select count(*) from sometable cross join someothertable cross join athirdtable

I got the following error:

1Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type int.

Turns out you need to use the COUNT_BIG(*) function instead.

view plain print about

1select count_big(*) from sometable cross join someothertable cross join athirdtable

This was a great suggestion since I had never used COUNT_BIG before. I helped a developer with this issue today by using COUNT_BIG instead of COUNT. The unexpected large count was actually caused by an incorrect join alias. I didn't notice the bad alias until the inital error.
